2020-21 Panini Illusions Basketball is filled with variety.
For starters, there’s the checklist. Rookies, veterans and multiple generations of retired stars are all a part of the release. Next, there’s the designs. Foil is found in the majority of the product, but there’s a heavy acetate presence as well. Autographs aren’t the primary focus, but they’re in the set, too.
Variety comes through in the distribution as well. Besides hobby boxes, there’s a full retail lineup as well as Asia-exclusive configurations.
2020-21 Panini Illusions Basketball Checklist Overview
The 2020-21 Illusions Basketball base set has 200 total cards. Among them are 50 rookies.
Parallels come 19 total levels.
Blasters are the only place to find Emerald and Ruby versions. Orange and Teal can only be found in retail fat packs.
Starlight is another retail-exclusive. Although not numbered, according to Panini, these are tough.
Autographs and Inserts
Across the entire 2020-21 Panini Illusions Basketball checklist there are five different autograph inserts.
First Impressions Jersey Autographs not only have signatures from 39 rookies, but these are the only cards in the product with memorabilia.
Trophy Collection Signatures and Rookie Signs, are in retail packs.
Acetate inserts are one of the defining features of the Illusions brand, not just in basketball.
These can be found at both the hobby and retail levels at fairly regular intervals. Hobby boxes have five. Standard retail boxes deliver four Pink cards.
Every Mega Box has a pair of Sapphire acetate cards while blasters have one Emerald version. The clear inserts fall approximately 1:4 fat packs as well in the form of Orange parallels.
